Watch the Gardens Grow
in Sebastian, Florida
Roseland United Methodist Church
John Wesley Serenity Garden
Here are two photos of the beginning of our garden.
There will be a fountain in the center.

We have the pavers down,
and they will be installing the irrigation within the next few days.
Then, they will begin installing the plants.
It is very exciting.
My thoughts were to have some of the plants found in the Bible
with markers identifying the plant and where it is found in the Bible.
That would make the Bible and the times more real to our children.
However, there were so many plants that would be dangerous
(having thorns, thistles, etc.),
that I'm having to sift the many kinds of plants more than expected.

We had the dedication for our garden Palm Sunday,
and there were lots of "oooh's" and "ahhh's".

I am working on the church’s history now. There are more things to do than I have time, it seems, and I’m supposed to be retired. I am looking for someone knowledgeable enough to include our garden on our web page.
· For the entry sign (see attached) Curt Oxford of Curt Oxford graphic arts & design. inc (www.curtoxfort.com <http://www.curtoxfort.com> ) designed and made it. Then it went to Michael Cashatt, Jr. (who you sent the PDF file to) of Impeccable Signs, Inc.(www.verosignsandtshirts.com <http://www.verosignsandtshirts.com> ) to put a weather-proof sealant on it. I think it turned out beautifully and is just perfect for our garden.

The Bible plant signs were redone too.
Michael from Impeccable Signs
took your PDF files for the plants I had planted;
revised them by adding the green border,
then ran them through his machine that put the waterproof sealant on (“laminate” I guess is the term).
He and his wife are such a lovely Christian couple, and I would heartily recommend them and Curt Oxford
to anyone needing a sign and/or the laminating.
Mr. and Mrs. Cashatt said they will ship.
I’m not sure about Mr. Oxford, but I would guess he would too.
These plant signs were then attached to the outdoor chloroplast cards from http://www.parkerdavis.com/nursery.html ,that you had recommended, and their stakes.

Our Prayer Garden is a place for quiet meditation & prayer;
a Bible garden to teach everyone, but especially the children, about some of the plants found in the Bible and in Florida;

and a garden to honor loved ones and in memory of those who have passed on.

We have had people (not just members of our church) buy pavers honoring friends, family (present and those who have passed on), pets (they are “family” too to some people),
important events
(I purchased one to honor my husband’s and my 50th
wedding anniversary),
and favorite sayings.
Purchase of the pavers is also a source of revenue, so we will have money to improve and maintain our garden.

Our church is Roseland United Methodist Church,12962 Roseland Road, Roseland Florida 32957. We will celebrate our centennial in 2014.
